The Practice of Nesting

Event Date: Apr 19, 2019
Event Description:
At times nothing seems to be happening. So it must be for the bird that sits on her nest. Things are apparently at a standstill. But the bird sits quietly, knowing that in the stillness something vital is going on, and in the proper time it will be shown. It takes faith and patience for the bird, and such faith and patience never seem to waver, day after day, night after night, as she bides the appointed time.—Elisabeth Elliot

By layering polymer glazes and building luminosity, depth, and detail, I interpret these ephemeral nests, and the stillness they represent, in giant scale, giving the viewer a bold perspective with which to connect with the delicacy of their construction. My nests reach into the viewer’s heart and open many emotions by simply presenting a humble object in a grand scale. A connection is made to the individual nest’s subtle coloring, the raw materials used in it’s construction, and the eggs depicted. It continues to amaze me.

These large paintings will be presented in the context of a dramatic, award-winning interior design showroom.
